The home is perched on a hillside. In front of it, the St. Lawrence River and the mountains around it. The setting called for an outdoor space to match.
What our clients asked for was simple. They wanted to use their terrace all year, whatever the weather or the season. And to keep the view intact, the one that makes the property what it is.
We proposed our best-known model: the Capri bioclimatic pergola. The owners added side solar shades, for comfort and versatility.
Rolled up, the shades go unnoticed. Rolled down, they block the wind or filter the setting sun. The view over the landscape stays whole.
We also installed electric patio heaters, integrated under the structure. Cool evenings no longer empty the terrace. Family and friends stay outside longer.
One more addition: a second structure with fixed louvres, right above the patio door. Its drawing picks up the contemporary lines of the house. It also answered a specific request from the clients. They wanted a real transition between inside and outside, with a bit more shade.
The result is striking. The house has taken on a resolutely modern presence. And the addition sits well with the natural materials and the design already in place. Wood, metal and glass. An outdoor living space that is well finished, and used every day.
