An ancestral home on avenue Royale, in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. One of the oldest roads in Quebec. Fieldstone on the ground floor, white wood boards on the upper storeys.
The window casings are burgundy, like the porch and its X-pattern railings. Both doors are black.
We set a freestanding Capri pergola on the pavers, beside the porch. Four posts, nothing anchored into the house. The two posts on the house side run down along the porch.
The frame is charcoal aluminium, the louvres are white. The charcoal goes with the black of the doors. The white of the louvres picks up the white of the boards.
The pergola stands at the back of the yard, at the foot of the wooded slope. The table and chairs sit under it. The louvres open and close with the sun.
