Horizontal solar shade in a double opening across a pergola bay: the two panels parted at the centre, each operating bar with its handle, and the outdoor lounge visible through the opening

Horizontal solar shade · VR100

Horizontal solar shade, drawn along its rail.

It draws along a rail, from one side of the opening or from both. It is worked by hand, with no motor.

How it works

The tube stands upright, the fabric leaves from the side.

On a vertical shade the tube is at the top and the fabric comes down. Here the tube sits in the side channel: the fabric leaves from the side.

Nothing crosses from above. A bay whose head is already taken can still be closed. You walk in on whichever side you choose.

In motion

The operation, filmed on a real installation.

Two clips shot by our teams on the same project. They start on a click: nothing is downloaded before that.

  • A hand on the operating bar, the panel follows its rail and the opening clears.
  • The double-opening configuration: two panels, two bars, a way through at the centre.
  • Panel of a horizontal solar shade at the end of its run, a hand on the brass handle of the operating bar, the opening clear onto the outdoor lounge and the concrete slab
The panel at the end of its run, the opening clear.
  • Close view of a horizontal solar shade: the outline of an armchair reads through the open-weave fabric
Closed, the fabric stays an open weave: the furniture reads through it.

Three configurations

From one side, from both, or in a narrow channel.

  • Double opening

Two panels each leave from a side channel and meet at the centre. You walk through the middle of the bay.

  • Single opening

A single panel crosses the whole bay. You walk in on one side, chosen at the design stage.

  • Single opening, narrow channel

The same thing with a slimmer channel, when the post cannot take the standard profile.

The essentials

Aluminum profiles, worked by hand.

The top rail, the channels, the operating bar and the bottom bar are extruded aluminum. No motor, no electricity.

The width of each bay, the fabric and the finish are settled with the structure, at the quote stage.
